Article: Our New Evermont Dial Creation Process

Our New Evermont Dial Creation Process

A Harmony of Depth & Light-Play

For the Evermont 38 (Gen²), we set out with one simple objective.

We wanted to create a dial with greater depth, richer light play, and a stronger sense of presence than its predecessor, while remaining unmistakably rooted to the origin of what the Evermont timepiece represents.

What followed was a complete reimagining of the dial's construction.

Designing a Surface That Comes Alive

The journey began with the foundation itself.

Rather than relying on a traditional flat dial surface, we developed a completely new pattern designed specifically to interact with light.

Every contour, angle, and transition was carefully considered to create movement across the dial as it catches the light from different directions.

The goal was not simply decoration.

We wanted the dial to feel alive.

The pattern's geometry was engineered to create a sense of depth while subtly guiding the viewer's eye inward. As light travels across the surface, highlights and shadows continuously shift, revealing new details from every angle.

The result is a dial that rewards closer inspection and evolves throughout the day as lighting conditions change.

A Refined Sunburst Finish

Once the dial pattern was perfected, the next stage was enhancing its interaction with light.

To achieve this, we applied an exceptionally fine sunburst finish across the surface. Unlike more aggressive sunburst treatments that can dominate a dial's appearance, our approach was intentionally restrained.

The finish was designed to complement the underlying pattern rather than compete with it.

As light strikes the dial, the sunburst effect amplifies the dimensional qualities already present within the texture, creating an elegant transition between bright reflections and darker areas.

The combination of texture and sunburst finishing creates layers of visual complexity that cannot be appreciated in photographs alone.

Creating the Perfect Fumé Gradient

Colour plays a vital role in shaping how a dial is perceived.

For the Evermont 38 (Gen²), we explored over 50 colour variations and gradient intensities before arriving at the final execution.

The chosen fumé effect transitions gradually from a richer, darker perimeter toward a brighter centre. This carefully controlled gradient serves two important purposes.

First, it creates a stronger sense of depth, giving the dial a more three-dimensional appearance.

Second, it naturally draws the wearer's attention toward the centre of the watch, creating a focal point that enhances legibility while making the dial feel more immersive.

Achieving the perfect fumé effect is a delicate balance. Too subtle, and the effect disappears. Too dramatic, and it overwhelms the dial's other details.

The final result was selected because it achieved harmony between depth, elegance, and visual presence.

The Hidden Layer

One of the most important stages in creating the Evermont 38 (Gen²) dial remains largely invisible to the naked eye.

After the pattern, finishing, and colour application are complete, the dial receives a specially developed tinted coating designed to enhance its visual depth.

This transparent layer acts almost like a lens.

As light passes through it, the surface beneath appears richer, deeper, and more dimensional. Colours gain greater intensity while the pattern acquires an almost liquid quality under certain lighting conditions.

The effect is subtle enough to preserve the dial's refinement, yet significant enough to transform how the dial feels on the wrist.

It is one of those details many owners may never consciously identify, but would immediately notice if it were absent.

Precision Printing

With the dial's visual foundation complete, attention turns to the final stage: printing.

At this point, every element must be executed with absolute precision.

The brand signature, text, minute track, and other dial markings are carefully applied to ensure perfect alignment and clarity. Even the smallest inconsistency can disrupt the visual balance that has been meticulously built throughout the manufacturing process.

The challenge is not simply printing information onto the dial.

It is integrating those elements into the design so naturally that they feel like part of the surface itself.

Every line, letter, and marker must maintain legibility while preserving the dial's overall elegance.

A Dial Designed to Be Experienced

The Evermont 38 (Gen²) dial was never intended to impress through complexity alone.

Instead, it was designed around a simple philosophy: create a dial that becomes more rewarding the longer you look at it.

The custom pattern creates movement. The refined sunburst finish amplifies light. The fumé gradient adds depth and focus. The tinted coating enhances richness and presence. Precision printing brings everything together.

Individually, each element is subtle.

Together, they create a dial that feels dynamic, immersive, and distinctive.

Because some watch dials simply have to be experienced in person to truly appreciate them.
